Recently, we were tasked with supplying banana racks for a period film production recreating a bustling 1920s shipyard, where workers would be seen unloading bananas fresh from a cargo ship.

The production required 9 x 3-ft Sri Lankan banana racks to help bring the scene to life.

Unlike the smaller variety bananas that are on our website, the client needed large bananas to make the racks look more impressive for a busy port-side scene.

With only a month to make it happen, we got to work. The project required close communication with our suppliers in Sri Lanka to ensure the bananas met the production team's specifications.

The banana racks arrived on Thursday morning in nine carefully packed cardboard boxes, with each rack individually wrapped to protect the fruit during transit.

With filming scheduled shortly after delivery, proper storage was essential. Bananas are sensitive to temperature and when stored in the fridge, can darken prematurely.

Instead, the racks were stored in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight. This helped maintain their appearance and ensured they looked fresh and authentic when they appeared on camera.
