and Austria

Grown - South Tyrol. South Tyrol has been termed an ‘apple paradise’, as the region’s climatic conditions – over 300 days of sunshine a year! – are perfect for growing apples, resulting in it being the largest apple growing district in Europe

Description - When most people go abroad, they buy mementos.

I buy fruit!

I chose these apples because they were large and very attractive, with smooth, glossy red skin covered in yellow speckles.

The inside was just as wonderful

as the outside. The flesh (which rapidly changes from a light yellow to a dazzling golden colour due to oxidation) was a joy to eat: it was wonderfully juicy and sweet, with a characteristic apple flavour and a subtle fragrance.

I particularly like that the flesh is softer and not as crunchy as other apple varieties.

I think that the Goldrush apples from this Italian deli had a slightly richer flavour, however Envy apples are still delicious!

Storage - Refrigerate to maintain freshness.

Rating - 7.5/10, a reliable variety that tastes great.
